The NCAA Tournament continues to wind on, with head coach Chris Beard and Texas Tech working their way to the National Championship Game.

The ability of the Chicago Bulls to figure out the coaching situation this summer could help determine what the playoff fortunes are for the 2019-20 season. Of all the teams that could rise out of the cellar in the Eastern Conference if everything holds steady, the Bulls look to be a team that could put that together. That depends on what happens with current head coach Jim Boylen, and a potential replacement like that of Texas Tech Red Raiders AP Coach of the Year Chris Beard.

However, there are a lot of changes that take place each and every off-season in the NBA, and this summer looks to be no different. We could be looking at squads in the New York Knicks and Atlanta Hawks that are on the other side of the standings in the East next season. Yet, the Bulls would love to get a good coaching direction to get on that track this off-season with someone like Chris Beard in the mix.

If the Bulls could land a solid coach this off-season, even from the college ranks, righting the ship could be in sight. Chris Beard might be shooting a little high, and in confusing fashion given this team’s recent coaching history, but it is an intriguing idea.

Beard is in the midst of leading his Texas Tech squad to the National Championship Game, against head coach Tony Bennett and the Virginia Cavaliers. Texas Tech worked past the two-seed Michigan State Spartans in the Final Four to reach this point of competing for the national title against the Hoos.

The Bulls have to be watching in interest to see how Texas Tech finishes out this special NCAA Tournament run. Chris Beard and star shooting guard Jarrett Culver are the spearheads of this run, and both have a good shot at intermingling to some degree with the Bulls this off-season.

Culver is emerging quickly as one of the top prospects in this 2019 NBA Draft class. Depending on where the Bulls land in this draft lottery, Culver could be one of the top candidates to land in the Windy City.

The idea of bringing both Culver and Beard from the Red Raiders basketball program over to the Windy City has to be exciting for a good portion of the fan base. Of course, that would have to be a puzzle that’s pieced together slowly.

According to various reports from The Spun, Chris Beard is actively being looked at for a host of coaching jobs. That could come at the college and NBA ranks. The Los Angeles Lakers potentially will have a big time opening if Luke Walton proves to be on his way out. And, the Bulls could be next up if Boylen doesn’t stick around beyond the summer.

High-profile coaching jobs in big markets are appealing to a lot of college hoops head coaches. Chris Beard might be an exception if he wants to stay at Texas Tech, but he’ll surely draw some interest this off-season. The Bulls should proceed with caution, though, after the latest experience with a college grown head coach in Fred Hoiberg that didn’t work out so well.
