Although the Indiana Pacers ran into some difficult times following the season-ending quad rupture to star shooting guard Victor Oladipo, there are still some bright spots for the team. The Pacers are somehow still hovering around fourth or fifth place in the Eastern Conference standings and locked down a playoff spot a while back.
Among the individual bright spots for the Pacers is the emergence of veteran point guard Darren Collison in the starting five for most of the season. Collison posted more than 11.0 points per game and a player efficiency rating above 16 thus far. He’s also averaging six assists per game and shooting better than 41 percent from three-point range.
The need for the Chicago Bulls to bring a veteran point guard into the mix would be accomplished with a greater amount of reliability and consistency than Rose with Collison. While Rose is likely to get shut down after 51 games played for the Timberwolves, Collison is almost guaranteed to see more than 75 games of action with the Pacers.
Some of the more appealing attributes about Collison for the Bulls should be his three-point shooting ability and natural fit as a floor general. Even though he’s started in more than 70 games thus far for the Pacers, Collison is averaging less than two turnovers per game. His turnover percentage below 15 is a solid number for him heading into free agency.
