Scouting Report. Duke. Wendell Carter Jr.. 7. 24. Pick Analysis. Center. player

It’s very difficult to come up with a better idea for the Chicago Bulls at this point in his rookie campaign for a lottery selection in this past NBA Draft than former Duke Blue Devils center Wendell Carter Jr. The Bulls used its No. 7 overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft to snag Carter Jr. to boost the frontcourt.

Something ironic is that the Bulls could elect to go with two straight Duke products in the draft lottery. That would be especially important to the future of the Bulls if it manages to land the prized possession of the 2019 NBA Draft with Duke forward Zion Williamson. A multitude of other top tier Duke prospects are likely to get drafted in the top five, though.

There could be something big brewing in Chicago between Markkanen and Carter Jr. as a potent forward and center combination. The Bulls would also be smart at the moment to hang onto the veteran center Robin Lopez this summer. That would give the frontcourt a huge pop and a lot of depth next season.

However, the only name that comes to mind that could be a better selection for the Bulls in the current situation is sharpshooting guard/wing Kevin Huerter. Putting Huerter over Carter Jr. is only speculation for what situation the Bulls are in now with the outside shooting and thin depth at shooting guard and small forward. In the end, we’ll stick with Carter Jr. here.
