7. Josh Perkins

  • School: Gonzaga University
  • Height: 6’3″
  • Weight: 190 lbs.
  • Age: 23

Josh Perkins isn’t the best NBA prospect on Gonzaga’s talented team. Heck, he’s not even the second-best NBA prospect on their team. But he shouldn’t be forgotten. Perkins is the engine that keeps Gonzaga running. He’s a huge part of their recent success.

On the season, Perkins is averaging 11 points per game on 45.4 percent shooting from the field and 36.8 percent shooting from deep. 36.8 percent from 3-point land is respectable, but Perkins is a better shooter than that percentage indicates. He’s shown flashes of Damian Lillard with his ability to quickly shoot off the dribble from well behind the 3-point line.

Better than Perkins’ deep shooting, though, is his passing. On the season, he’s averaging an impressive 6.4 assists and only 2.1 turnovers per game.

If Syracuse wins their first round game against Baylor, they’ll likely meet up with Gonzaga in the second round. Even though zone defenses aren’t something NBA defenses typically go to, it would be nice to see how Perkins handles Syracuse’s infamous 2-3 zone.
