The Murray State Racers are going to have an interesting run through the NCAA Tournament with one of the most promising talents in the 2019 NBA Draft field in store. Murray State is competing in the NCAA Tournament as a 12-seed facing the five-seed Marquette Golden Eagles in the Round of 64.

But, the star power for Murray State will be coming from elite sophomore point guard Ja Morant. Leading the team in scoring and assists, Morant’s 2019 NBA Draft profile grew very fast with the Chicago Bulls as one of the most intriguing suitors. Since the Bulls need a point guard in this draft, Morant seems like a good fit with his dynamic playmaking and creating ability.

Selecting Morant in this draft means that the Bulls are likely ready to move on from the Dunn-era as a starting point guard. And, the idea of head coach Jim Boylen getting a point guard combination in the rotation of Morant and former Villanova national title-winning guard Ryan Arcidiacono could be something good to work with moving forward.

This season, Morant averages 24.6 points per game, 10 assists, and 5.5 rebounds. He is also posting a sparkling player efficiency rating that is one of the nation’s best, above 31. Minimizing turnovers while showing he can be a bigger threat from deep are some key tasks as NBA scouts will be looking for Morant to pull off a first round upset with Murray State against Marquette.
