The dominoes continue to fall as the impact of the failed deadline shop of Anthony Davis stretches even as far as the Chicago Bulls.

Up until the arrival of the 2019 NBA Trade Deadline, the hottest name by far it seemed on the open market was the New Orleans Pelicans superstar big man Anthony Davis. It also seemed like there were a ton of teams that had some type of interest in acquiring Davis including the Chicago Bulls.

Although, coming back to the Windy City didn’t appeal to Davis as he continually shot down the idea of returning to his hometown. The Chicago Bulls would obviously love to have Davis in the mix, but he is one of the final decision makers in that actually happening.

Where Davis was anticipated to land if the Pels front office pulled the trigger to ship him out at the deadline was with superstar LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers. The Lakers desperately need a boost in the Western Conference standings right now to avoid the letdown of missing the playoffs, but Davis wasn’t able to provide that for them.

Immediately after the silent deadline from the front office in NOLA, the fallout started to begin. There were some rumors that the Pels wouldn’t give Davis any playing time to keep him rested and ready to be part of a trade deal this summer. That didn’t pan out well with the NBA league office.

The franchise also decided to make the move to fire now former general manager Dell Demps after his deadline disaster. Moving forward, it appears that Davis and standout point guard Jrue Holiday won’t be getting as much playing time as before the deadline.

Moreover, the rumor mill surrounding trade talks with Davis hit headlines again when he released his list of potential landing spots that included every NBA team outside of the Boston Celtics. That meant that the Chicago Bulls were back in the mix if something dramatic were to change this coming off-season.

This is relevant news to almost every team in need of a superstar like Davis in the NBA for the summer. He is the type of talent that most teams are willing to roll out the red carpet to impress. Especially in the Eastern Conference, adding a superstar like Davis makes your team an immediate contender.

Even in a key Feb. 27 showdown against LeBron and the Lakers, Davis is expected to play limited minutes for the Pels according to ESPN reports. Davis was also benched in the fourth quarter 111-110 loss to the 76ers on Feb. 25.

If the Pels did want to win more games and at least push for a playoff spot in the West, the team definitely could. Davis and Holiday give this coaching staff more than enough resources to pull out a late run in the standings and make a legitimate playoff push.

However, the front office’s plan in NOLA is clear to hold onto Davis until they can shop him this summer. The suitors will line up and have to hope that Davis is interested in sitting with them for the long haul. When it’s all said and done, the Chicago Bulls could be one of those teams in the running to land Davis.
