Chicago Bulls: Winning streak continues against East’s best?
To build toward a four-game winning streak, the Chicago Bulls would have to take down the best from the Eastern Conference with the Milwaukee Bucks.
The Chicago Bulls are set to take on the top team from the Eastern Conference to try and continue one of the more unlikely winning streaks so far this season. This whole winning streak for the Bulls started with an entertaining victory over the Memphis Grizzlies thanks to a big second half effort.
Since the Chicago Bulls are a team that seemed to be floundering in the East standings entering the All-Star Break, this recent run is a nice surprise but also confusing. It doesn’t feel like putting together an end of season winning streak would do much good for the Bulls at this point.
Putting it all together in front of a situation where the Chicago Bulls can also have a solid summer with a good spot in the draft lottery is a great way to cap off a disappointing 2018-19 campaign in general. What is happening to the Bulls lately gives some hope to the idea that the current core of the starting five could give the front office something to work with moving forward.
A standout group of four players is starting to emerge for the Bulls which encompasses center Wendell Carter Jr, power forward Lauri Markkanen, small forward Otto Porter Jr., and shooting guard Zach LaVine. The interesting part of that quad of players is that it’s hard to see a long-term fit being pieced together with a point guard that can round out the starting five.
However, with where the Chicago Bulls are at now facing superstar forward Giannis Antetokounmpo wing Khris Middleton and the Milwaukee Bucks comes at a good time. The Bucks come out of the All-Star Break with the hopes of taking control of the East to the point where an NBA Title run is possible.
The Bucks are clearly one of the best choices out of the East to compete for the NBA Title against a team like the Golden State Warriors out of the Western Conference. And, the Bulls just took down one of the other best contenders out of the East, with the Feb. 23 take down of point guard Kyrie Irving and the Boston Celtics.
In the Bucks two games since the All-Star Break, the team has won two games. Those two wins also came over the Celtics and then the upstart Minnesota Timberwolves. The win over the Timberwolves showed impressive offensive performances from both Giannis and Middleton, combining for more than 50 points while the team posted 140 in total.
