Kris Dunn

Kris Dunn has had a rough season. He’s battled injuries and struggled to find his rhythm on offense. It’s looking more and more like he won’t be the “point guard of the future” for the Bulls.

On the season, Dunn is averaging 11.7 points, 6.5 assists and 4.2 rebounds per game. He’s shooting career-highs from the field, the 3-point line and the free-throw line, but his career-high .434/.339/.784 splits still aren’t where they need to be.

None of this is to say that Dunn is a bad player, though. He likely has a future in this league as a really solid backup point guard – a critical position for teams looking to make a run at a championship. He just hasn’t shown consistently that he’s the type of guy you can build a team around. The point guard is the most important position in basketball, and it’s looking less and less like you can win a championship with Dunn as your starting point guard.

Dunn’s a hard-nosed defender, though, and in this era, that’s something that not many teams have to work with on the defensive end. He definitely has a place in this league, but not with the Bulls.
