Chicago Bulls: Scottie Pippen draws Anthony Davis comparison
A former Chicago Bulls star Scottie Pippen made his opinion known regarding the trade rumors with Anthony Davis and the New Orleans Pelicans.
The trade rumors surrounding the New Orleans Pelicans star big man Anthony Davis haven’t slowed down since the start of the 2018-19 regular season. Even before the start of the current regular season, Anthony Davis couldn’t stay away from the rumor mill. That included some reports of Anthony Davis going back to his hometown and joining the Chicago Bulls roster.
However, what Anthony Davis made clear in the past few weeks, especially before the 2019 NBA Trade Deadline, is that he wants to stay away from the Windy City. He reportedly had a list of teams that he wanted to go to. He then reopened this list with many more options. It now includes everyone but the Boston Celtics.
One prominent former Bulls star from all of those great 1990s teams weighed in on the situation surrounding Anthony Davis and the Pelicans front office a few days back. With all the drama looming around the Pelicans organization right now, no one can really tell where Anthony Davis will end up when it’s all said and done.
That one former Bulls star that weighed in on this situation was the great Michael Jordan teammate and Hall-of-Famer Scottie Pippen. He compared his situation back in the day with the Bulls front office to what AD is going through with the Pelicans right now.
Pippen stated that he felt like the front office showed that AD “didn’t hold anymore value to that organization”, obviously referring to the Pelicans moving forward.
He then jumped into talking about his trade situation back in the day with the Bulls and how AD “went through something he went through” in his career.
The inspiration is there for Anthony Davis to be impressed by what the Bulls have to offer him. It would likely have to involve bringing in a star at some point this summer, and/or getting someone like the Duke Blue Devils standout Zion Williamson in the 2019 NBA Draft.

However, this situation surrounding Anthony Davis and the Pelicans is a bit different than Pippen with the Bulls. At least the Bulls had MJ to lead them to contention in the Eastern Conference year in and year out. Pippen did recognize that fact in his statements on ESPN’s The Jump.
Wherever AD decides to go next is mostly up to him. The Pelicans can’t completely control where he wants to play, unless that trade deal involves the Celtics. A lot of national pundits and experts in the media hold it that he is still more than likely to wind up with LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers.
