The Chicago Bulls would have to make a move to the bottom of the NBA standings to be in good position to get the right to select Duke’s Zion Williamson.
The Duke Blue Devils standout freshman forward Zion Williamson is the talk of the town for pretty much every NBA franchise that is in a rough spot right now in the NBA standings, including the Chicago Bulls. Very rarely is there a prospect that comes along that carries the hype of a player like the “once in a generation talent” Zion Williamson.
Some have compared, and even said the talent surpasses, this big time hoops prospect to that of the Los Angeles Lakers superstar forward LeBron James when he was entering the 2004 NBA Draft. That’s a bold comparison to make since LeBron could wind up as one of the two best players in NBA history when it’s all said and done for his career.
However, Zion Williamson is a talent that doesn’t come along often and he is certainly gaining a ton of hype. A team like the Bulls would be right to at least try and make the moves toward getting a shot at Zion Williamson in the upcoming draft lottery. Chicago is in good position to at least have good odds at the top spot in the 2019 NBA Draft. But, there are some teams below the Bulls in the Eastern Conference standings still.
An issue with the Bulls pulling something like the Philadelphia 76ers did recently and “tanking” to get a good draft slotting is screwing up the building of the current roster. Chicago does have some good pieces in place, but adding Zion Williamson to the mix is a factor that can’t be overlooked.
Here’s a look at the five reasons why the Chicago Bulls would be right to tank for Zion Williamson at this point of the 2018-19 regular season.
