The Chicago Bulls beat the New York Knicks 104-102. Bulls have won two straight games for the first time this season.

What a game. That was very exciting. Bulls are not really trying to wins games this season, but the game against the Knicks was kind of exciting to watch. The Bulls are 5-20 this season and have won two straight games. Bulls snapped their 5-game losing streak against the Knicks.

Let’s give this Bulls team some credit. The Bulls were playing their second game of a back to back. They were stuck in Charlotte overnight after the overtime win against the Hornets because the pilots got stuck in another city. The team landed in Chicago at 2 pm. They had little sleep but played like they had a 12 hour nap. They showed great effort against the Knicks and also played with a ton of energy.

The Bulls had a very solid first half. It felt like the Bulls were dominating but they went into halftime leading  49-44. Lauri Markkanen going against Kristaps Porzingis was a fun matchup to watch. Going into halftime, Markkanen had 11 points while Porzingis had 6 points.

Nikola Mirotic made three threes in the first half. Bulls had 16 three point attempts but only made five of them. Bulls bench had 22 points, but the team was only two for seven from the free throw line.

In the third quarter the Bulls were outscored 26-19. Porzingis was heating up for the Knicks as he had 17 points through three. Bulls came out of halftime slow and the Knicks took advantage of it. Bulls went 0-5 from three in the the third. The Bulls scored 36 points in the fourth quarter. The first 23 points in the fourth came from the bench. Bulls bench had 54 points against the Knicks.

Bulls had a ton of energy

The Bulls won by 2 points as Porzingis missed a good look on a three point attempt at the buzzer. David Nwaba had another spectacular game. He had 15 points on six for nine shooting. Nwaba is a team player and he always hustles. During the game Nwaba went on a mini 7-0 run. He has been a real bright spot for this team.

Nwaba continues to show that he belongs in the league, and is taking advantage of the opportunity that he is getting. I don’t know how you can’t root for this guy.

Nikola Mirotic had a really nice night in his season home opener. He finished with 19 points and made five three pointers. Bulls are now undefeated when Niko plays. Rookie Lauri Markkanen was very efficient against the Knicks. He had 15 points and played pretty good defense. His defense on Porzingis was very good.

Point guard Kris Dunn is big time. For the second straight night he almost had a triple double. He finished with 17 points, nine assists, seven rebounds, and three steals.

He was five for six from the free throw line, including two clutch free throws down the stretch. Dunn scored or assisted on the last 13 points of the game. Dunn now has more then six rebounds for the fourth straight game, and has recorded three or more steals in 10 games this season. He is improving every game and is playing more under control. The kid can flat out play. Bulls next game is on Monday against the Celtics.
