Before the Chicago Bulls and Cleveland Cavaliers face each other in preseason action on Tuesday night in Cleveland, former Bulls guard Derrick Rose made some interesting comments about the summer of 2010 that involved LeBron James and Dwyane Wade.

There’s one thing that’s always a certainty with former Chicago Bulls guard Derrick Rose: he’s likely going to say something to grab your attention, whether it be on accident or not.

Rose had some things to say before the Bulls face the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday night in Cleveland.

For many Bulls fans, the summer of 2010 is one of the most disappointing times in the history of the franchise. The Bulls had two meetings with Dwyane Wade about playing for his hometown team. LeBron James was intrigued about playing in Chicago. Chris Bosh was even rumored to have some interest in playing in Chicago with James and Wade.

Of course, none of that “Big 3” signed with Chicago and the Miami Heat would land all three players while going to four straight NBA Finals, winning two of them together.

A big knock on Rose was that he never recruited some big-time players to play with him in Chicago. According to Rose, he did try to recruit.

"“People always said I didn’t recruit. I tried to recruit. I put out a video,” Rose said, via K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune. “But it wasn’t for me to say that. I felt like the organization was supposed to say that. And they didn’t.”"

Rose claimed that he made a video for Bosh, James and Wade and that he’s not sure if any of them actually watched the film, but that the tape did exist and Rose did try to get superstars to join the Bulls during his time in Chicago.

"“I mean, it ain’t for me to say that, but yeah, they didn’t say anything about (the video),” Rose said of the Bulls, via Johnson. “They sent it. I don’t know if (Wade, LeBron, Bosh) looked at it or played the video. But I made a video. But at the time, it wasn’t for me to say that.”"

“I just wanted to see who had my back,” Rose also said on the Bulls organization. According to Johnson, Rose was otherwise “complimentary” of the Bulls.

Dwyane Wade was also asked about Rose’s recruitment of him, Bosh and James seven years ago. Wade did mention that Rose wanted all of them in Chicago, even if he didn’t show it as strongly as others wanted him to.

“That’s not his personality,” Wade said, via Johnson.

“Don’t want to do something that’s not in someone’s personality. We knew he wanted us to come in. He didn’t have to be on our line all the time. We knew that. We just made a decision that was better for us.”

There’s no telling what Rose said on the video and if Miami “Big 3” even watched the tape, but the initial reaction to Derrick Rose’s “lack of recruiting stars to play with him” in Chicago may have been premature.
