3. Who is going to win the starting point guard battle?
A big reason why the Bulls will be driving a tank this season and beyond is their current landscape at the point guard position.
All U Can Heat
Ever since Derrick Rose‘s career started trending downward due to some unfortunate injuries, the Bulls have had a point guard problem and it’s glaring them right in the face this season.
Kris Dunn struggled in his rookie season in Minnesota during some limited action. Cameron Payne has looked downright awful since being traded from Oklahoma City last season (and that includes his short stint in Las Vegas this summer). Jerian Grant had some good moments last season, but looked completely unplayable in the postseason.
The Bulls have plenty of options at point guard, but not a lot of answers heading into training camp. It’s probably a smart bet to put your money on Dunn being the guy to start things out and move into the rebuild.
Dunn was high on the Bulls’ board during the draft process last year and if they would’ve pulled the trigger on a trade surrounding Jimmy Butler then, Dunn probably would’ve been a Bull to begin with.
Things can change, injuries happen, players make progress … but the Bulls have a cluster at point guard with less than no answers as to what they’ll do. All they can do is just let the trio battle it out and the best of the bunch gets the nod. It’s really all you can do.
