Nikola Mirotic

Bringing Nikola Mirotic back will create another log jam up front.

The Bulls just drafted another stretch-four in Lauri Markkanen, which means bringing back Mirotic would create an issue at power forward for the Bulls. Mirotic can be a solid contributor when his shot is falling, but his play is generally inconsistent. Despite his inconsistent play, Mirotic has shown potential and some team will be willing to throw money at him during his restricted free agency.

If management is serious about rebuilding, they should let him walk. Mirotic could become costly if a team with nothing to lose like the Brooklyn Nets throws big money at him. Not to mention that Mirotic will actually help this team win games, which is now detrimental for the Bulls.

Isn’t rebuilding fun?

All that being said, it would be a very Gar Forman move to bring back Mirotic and stunt the growth of the Bulls’ newest lottery pick.

While I like Mirotic, and would be sad to see him go, it’s time to embrace the rebuild. Markkanen is the Bulls’ stretch-four of the future, so bringing back Mirotic would just be another redundancy on a team already full of redundant players.
