In the immediate aftermath of the Jimmy Butler trade and Lauri Markkanen pick, I resulted to putting REM’s “Everybody Hurts” at the back-end of an article. While I could’ve picked many songs for the Chicago Bulls’ misery, I chose that one, just because it was a gut-punch night. Now, we’re going forward, again, this time with no clear hope.

So, here we go. We’re about to walk this path together. Gar Forman and John Paxson dropped the proverbial middle finger on the whole Chicago Bullsfan base. The Bulls are left with a lot of combo guards, role players and middling-starters.

Trading Jimmy Butler was the indicator of the rebuild, but the package was bologna; I think we’re all on the same page at this point.

While The Ringer‘s Kevin O’Conner gave the Lauri Markkanen pick an F+, ESPN graded the overall trade package as an F for the Bulls and an A+ for the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Do I need to mention that it was former Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau doing the fleecing?

Additionally, ESPN’s  Kevin Pelton wrote that Chicago earn a D- for the Jordan Bell trade, where the partner Golden State earned an A.

Awesome.

Basically, we’re in for a rough couple of years while this rebuild takes shape. We don’t know who on this roster is still around when it returns to competition, but we do know it’s bound to take some time.

This playlist won’t get you through the next 3-5 years, but it may get you through the rest of your day.
