John Collins, PF, Wake Forest

Collins is an inside PF who could be the best player available and/or a replacement for Nikola Mirotic. He is a great finisher around the rim, with a 67 percent true shooting percentage and averaged 19.2 points and 9.8 rebounds per game as one of the better glass cleaners in the country.

His defense needs development, as well as his awareness, but he still averaged 1.6 blocks per game and had the highest PER in the country at 35.2 in his sophomore campaign. His plus/minus of 7.9 wasn’t bad. Not to mention, he looks like a prospect who can easily add the 3-ball to his skillset in a few years and become a Chris Bosh-type of player. He’s efficient as well and he actually could be taken in front of the Bulls.

That’s one of twp main reasons why Collins might not be the pick. The other is because since Mirotic is most likely coming back, he doesn’t make sense from a need standpoint. But GarPax usually picks the best player available and that might be Collins if he’s there.

Collins could be a great player for the Bulls or for a team slightly ahead of them.
