Texas’ Jarrett Allen

2016-17 season: 33 games played, 13.4 points on 57.9 percent shooting, 8.4 rebounds, 0.8 assists and 1.5 blocks per game

Simply put (and in the nicest way possible), Texas center Jarrett Allen is a physical freak. At almost seven-feet-tall, Allen has a standing reach of over nine feet and was an imposing presence in the middle for the Longhorns this past season following in the footsteps of former Texas center and current Indiana Pacers star Myles Turner.

(Best-case scenario) comparable players (via The Ringer’s NBA Draft Guide): Oklahoma City Thunder center Steven Adams and Golden State Warriors center JaVale McGee

Being that Adams was just given a $100 million contract before the 2016-17 season started from the Thunder and JaVale McGee has been an instrumental bench piece for the best team in the league out on The Bay, those aren’t two bad players to potentially be compared to. Sure, McGee has been a little goofy at times, but like Allen, McGee is a specimen in the middle, while also being a big-time threat in transition.

What does Draft Express think of Allen?

"At 6’11 with a 7’5 1/2 wingspan, Allen is a major presence on the offensive glass and as a finisher inside the paint, where he can play above the rim from long vantage points thanks to his impressive physical tools. He shows flashes of potential protecting the rim and rebounding outside of his area, and his jump-hook can be developed into a real weapon in time thanks to his high release point and soft touch around the basket. While raw and still underdeveloped, his skill-level is relatively high for a player his size, as he can attack in a straight line from the high post, or even make mid-range jumpers at times, despite his extreme struggles from the free throw line (55%).
