Pippen Ain’t Easy’s 2017 NBA Draft Guide for the Chicago Bulls
A look at mock drafts from all across the web
Here’s a glance at 11 different NBA mock drafts and as you’d expect, there’s plenty of difference among the picks. The Bulls have a ton of needs moving forwards and there’s no one set prospect that is a fit and the “right pick” for the Bulls.
At this point, there’s almost no wrong pick for the Bulls. Sure, much of the fan base would like to see the front office take a chance on a player that may need a bit more work, but has a higher ceiling than a college veteran.
Ever since the days of the LaMarcus Aldridge-Tyrus Thomas trade back in 2006, the Bulls have been rather hesitant to take a project with their first-round pick. That could definitely change this year, or at least some of the mock drafts across the internet seem to think so.
Here’s a look at 11 different mocks, starting with the guys at Basketball Insiders.
Basketball Insiders: Duke’s Luke Kennard (Joel Brigham)
Louisville’s Donovan Mitchell (Michael Scotto)
Wake Forest’s John Collins (Moke Hamilton)
Texas’ Jarrett Allen (Steve Kyler)
Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox: Indiana’s OG Anunoby
CBS Sports’ Reid Forgrave: UCLA’s Ike Anigbogu
CBS Sports’ Gary Parrish: Terrance Ferguson (Australia, former Arizona commit)
Draft Express: Duke’s Luke Kennard
NBC Sports’ Rob Dauster: Duke’s Luke Kennard
SB Nation’s Ricky O’Donnell: Terrance Ferguson (Australia, former Arizona commit)
Sports Illustrated’s Andrew Sharp: Texas’ Jarrett Allen
Sporting News’ Sam Vecenie: Wake Forest’s John Collins
Tankathon: Creighton’s Justin Patton
UPROXX’s Brad Rowland: North Carolina’s Justin Jackson
So, to recap:
- The name picked most by the mock drafts listed was Duke’s Luke Kennard, who was selected as the Bulls’ No. 16 pick in three different mocks.
- John Collins, Jarrett Allen and Terrance Ferguson each tied for second in the most times their names popped up on these mocks with all having two selections.
- All in all, eight different names were featured in (technically) 14 different mock drafts. Basically, anything could be in play for the Bulls right outside of the lottery.
