Chicago Bulls vs. Boston Celtics Takeaways: How Bout Dat?
Bulls bombed the backboard
Chicago went all in on Boston when it came to cleaning the glass.
The Bulls trailed a big portion of this game and there were numerous contributing factors, some of them we will touch on. One area where they had no issues maintaining control throughout the contest was rebounds.
Robin Lopez has been linked to some trad murmurs around the internet, but who among the players on Chicago’s roster haven’t been involved in rumors. Lopez had two early offensive rebounds and putbacks, something that he’s been doing with a high rate of success all season for the Bulls. If he’s on his way out of town, his fantastic work on the offensive glass is going to be missed. He had five offensive rebounds on Thursday night, more than the entire Celtics squad by himself.
Chicago outrebounded Boston 51-31 overall and 15-4 on the offensive end of the floor. It was no contest between the Celtics on the middle of the pack Bulls.
Despite the dominant performance, no Chicago player made it to double figures in the rebound category. Taj Gibson led the way with nine boards, but there were other Bulls who had eight, seven, six, and five rebounds. Everyone was contributing to the impressive work.
