Chicago Bulls vs. Boston Celtics: Game outlook for final game before All-Star break
By Ben Rains
The Bulls back court needs to go at Thomas and try to contain him
With Wade missing from the lineup again, the Bulls young guards will get a chance to face one of the league’s most prolific scorers. Michael Carter-Williams and Jerian Grant have been playing well for the Bulls in their newly-evolving roles.
MCW has averaged 11.3 points per over his last seven games. He has also grabbed 4.7 rebounds and dished out 3.3 assists. He still can’t shoot from deep, but his size is an asset in the NBA and always will be. He should be able to go at the microscopic point guard all night long, but the bigger, more physical Marcus Smart will pose more of a challenge both offensively and defensively.
Rajon Rondo, who was once left for dead, has played well in nearly 20 minutes a night for the Bulls. If anyone knows anything about Rondo, they know he will bring everything he has for the prime-time game tonight.
The fact that it is against his former team only adds fuel to the fire.
The back court matchups will be fun to watch. Bulls fans that have not had the chance to watch Thomas are in for a treat. Thomas is coming off 40 straight games of scoring 20 or more points, which tied him with Hall of Famer John Havlicek for most consecutive 20-point games in Celtics history.
Thomas also saves his best for last, leading the league in fourth quarter scoring by a wide margin. But the Bulls have the size to try to contain the tiny All-Star guard.
