Rick Flag: Jimmy Butler

Ever since Jimmy Butler became one of the top players in the entire NBA, it’s been about becoming a leader and leading the Chicago Bulls organization towards a title in the future.

Butler seems like the prototypical Rick Flag for this scenario, right?

For those that don’t know, Flag is seen as the “leader” of the Suicide Squad. Whether you read the comics or go see the film on Aug. 5, Rick Flag is “the guy” when it comes to Task Force X (an alias of the Suicide Squad).

It’s been a struggle for Butler, just like it will be for Flag in the film. There’s a lot more ego in the Bulls’ locker room now (including his own) and it’s a curious situation to see if Butler can lead the troops towards a playoff berth after last year’s disappointment. It’s not easy to keep guys in line for Flag and based off last year’s results, Butler’s “leadering” didn’t exactly go according to plan.

A perfect description of what this season could be like for the Bulls this season can be taken from a trailer for the upcoming Suicide Squad film.

“What the hell is wrong with you people,” Flag asks out loud.

“We’re bad guys. It’s what we do,” Quinn (Rondo) responds.
