Varejao out, Felicio in

Chicago Bulls big man Cristiano Felicio will replace Golden State Warriors center Anderson Varejao on Team Brazil as the latter player continues to recover from a recent back injury.

Thrust into a larger role on the Bulls last year than expected due to players ahead of him on the depth chart getting injured, Felicio averaged 7.9 points per game on 58.8 percent from the field and 5.9 rebounds per game in April when he was given significant minutes.

Felicio’s continued development will bolster a Chicago Bulls bench unit that needs to step up for the team to have success next season.

Furthermore, participating in the Olympics will force Felicio to get into better shape; a weakness that reared its ugly head during NBA Summer League competition.
