2. Jonas Jerebko
Here’s another stretch big: Jerebko is a 35.3 percent career three-point shooter. After a slow start to his sniping career, the 6’10” Swede has shot better than 38 percent from long range in each of his last three seasons while playing for the Detroit Pistons and Boston Celtics. He’s a good hustle player in limited minutes and his energy enables him to play some small forward in a pinch, but he’s primarily a stretch-four.
Jerebko could free up Chicago to flip a similar player — that could be Mirotic, McDermott or even Taj Gibson — for some legitimate help on the wing or at an off-guard slot. At 29, this is more or less who Jerebko is going to be, so don’t expect much growth from the Brad Stevens-era vintage.
Still, he has no injury history and in this summer of psychotic Timofey Mozgov contracts, Jerebko would be a great value signing. Across his career, Jerebko has averaged 18.9 minutes a night, notching an efficient 6.7 points, 4.2 rebounds and in addition to his solid three-point shooting, he averages a decent-for-a-stretch-four 45.8 percent from the field and 76.6 percent from the free-throw line.
