While it might not be popular to defend Carlos Boozer, he deserves more credit for his career in Chicago than Bulls fans will ever be willing to give him.

Boozer will forever be one of the main scapegoats for the failures of the Thibodeau-era of Bulls basketball. This doesn’t seem fair, especially when comparing Boozer’s game to that of a respected player like Pau Gasol.

If Boozer’s legacy in Chicago is one of failed expectations, a lack of toughness and piss-poor defense, fans should regard Gasol in a similar fashion.

The blunt truth of the matter is neither player delivered a championship to the Chicago Bulls despite the championship-level expectations that accompanied their arrivals to Chicago.

Therefore, if fans consider one a failure, the other should be considered a failure as well.

The Bulls have settled for second-tier free agents for years (like Boozer and Gasol). Can the front office reverse this trend and sign a top free agent this summer?

The harsh answer to the above question is a resounding no. It speaks to the incompetence of the front office and further shows that the Bulls should fire their top executives.
