Top 30 Moments in Chicago Bulls History
18. Derrick Rose Becomes Youngest MVP
Derrick Rose capped off an incredible early run with the Bulls by winning MVP of league and becoming the youngest to ever accomplish that. At 22 years old, he averaged 25.0 points, 7.7 assists, and 4.1 rebounds per game and led the Bulls to the league’s best record. This was definitely the peak of the post-Jordan era, and it gave fans in Chicago something to hang their hat on for quite a while.
Expectations for Rose’s future have since been hampered, but they can never take that MVP trophy away from him. It will be interesting to watch how Derrick adjusts into a supporting role as Jimmy Butler continues taking over the leadership mantle. Rose hasn’t been shooting that well to start the season, but there is still time to turn things around for him.
