Subject: Doug McDermott
Optimist:
- McDermott had another incredible showing during the Las Vegas Summer League.
- He showed that he can score from anywhere on the floor and Fred Hoiberg loves him.
- McDermott had bright spots in his rookie season, but after his procedure, Thibodeau never played him.
- Now that Dunleavy will miss the first couple of weeks of this season, it will be a perfect opportunity for Mcdermott to showcase his versatile game.
Pessimist:
- McDermott is too small to be a stretch four and too slow to cover wings.
- His defensive game wasn’t great under Tom Thibodeau and there is no reason to expect Hoiberg to be any better at developing him.
- Perhaps if he only focuses on his shot he can be a good spot-up shooter off the bench.
