The premier headline heading into the Bulls’ Dec. 27 meeting with Anthony Davis and the New Orleans Pelicans was that it was the first time that Chicago natives Derrick Rose and Anthony Davis faced off against each other.

(I even wrote about it a long time ago.)

Davis (29 points, 11 rebounds and six blocks) and Rose (19 points) were fun to watch in their first showdown, but Butler’s performance was the talk of the night. It was Butler third 30-point game in the last six games in December, and his MIP award campaign was gaining steam already.
