Jerry Sloan

“The Original Bull”.

Jerry Sloan was the very first draft selection for the Chicago Bulls in the 1966 expansion draft, along with being the first player to have his number retired by the franchise.

Not only did Sloan spend 10 seasons on the hardwood playing for the Bulls, he spent three seasons as the Bulls head coach, before becoming the long-time head coach of the Utah Jazz.

Sloan was a ferocious defender, making he and Van Lier one of the NBA’s toughest backcourts over their time in Chicago. Along with being named to the All-Defensive Teams six teams, Sloan made two All-Star Game appearances as a member of the Bulls, including helping the Bulls win their lone division title during the 1974-75 season.
