Small Forward: Kelly Oubre Jr., Kansas
Kelly Oubre Jr. is one of the higher-ranked wings on just about every draft board, but there’s only so many teams and so many draft selections, so someone is bound to slide at the SF position.
Guys like Duke’s Justise Winslow and Arizona’s Stanley Johnson are most likely going to be top-10 selections on Thursday. Wisconsin’s Sam Dekker probably played his way into the lottery after his NCAA Tournament performance back in the spring.
That leaves Oubre, a former top-10 recruit for Bill Self at Kansas.
Oubre had wonderful measureables at the NBA Draft Combine, measuring roughly 6’6″, including a 7’2.5″ wingspan(!) and leapt 37 inches in the max vertical jump drill.
Bleacher Report NBA Draft Writer Jonathan Wasserman also mentioned a slide for Oubre potentially on Thursday night:
"He didn’t have the most convincing season at Kansas, having averaged just 9.3 points, totaling 28 assists in 36 games and disappearing in key spots. However, Oubre possesses an NBA-friendly blend of athleticism and shot-making ability. He’s smooth in the open floor and threatening from downtown."
