2012: Eeeek, Marquis Teague

OK, so to be honest, the Marquis Teague selection at No. 29 in the 2012 NBA Draft did make sense.

Derrick Rose had just torn his ACL in late April, and there was no telling when the league’s youngest MVP in history would return to action.

(Yeah, he never came back in 2012-13, I know.)

So, the Bulls thought, “Hey, let’s get a guy that could potentially fill the role while Derrick’s out.”

Teague was a National Champion at Kentucky, running the show for the most talented college hoop team in recent memory. Along with Teague at point guard, the Wildcats went 38-2 and possessed the top two picks of the 2012 draft: Anthony Davis and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist.

But, the experiment was a failure and Teague was assigned to the Iowa Energy (similar to Johnson) just a year after being drafted by the Bulls.

Teague was later traded to Brooklyn, who then sent him to Philadelphia, who then waived Teague, and now, he’s with the Oklahoma City Blue of the D-League.
