2. D.J Augustin

When the Bulls brought in D.J Augustin in the 2013-14 season they were 9-12 and had just lost star Derrick Rose to injury for the whole season only days before. Things were looking bleak for the Bulls and for Augustin. Augustin had just been released by the Raptors and he wasn’t sure if he even had a future in the NBA. Augustin did not turn any heads at the start of his Bulls tenure, as the Bulls went on to lose their first four straight games with Augustin. Their record stood at 9-16 and fans were calling for the team to tank and gear up for the next year. What happened next was one of the most amazing stories in the NBA last season.

Behind the stellar play of Augustin, the Bulls went 39-18 in their remaining games, to finish with a 48-34 record and home court advantage in the first round against the Wizards. Augustin averaged nearly 15 points per game and 5 assists, while appearing in 61 games for them. He amazed the crowd with his outstanding quickness and clever pick and roll play. He was an amazing underdog story and was adored by fans for his blue collar type of play. He had a brief, but memorable career with the Bulls, but his postseason play left a lot to be desired as he shot under 30 percent from the field, which is why he doesn’t rank number one on the list.
