C.J. Watson’s game is as big as his heart.
- C.J Watson:
Out of all the reserve point guards that have played under Thibodeau, none have made it further in the postseason than C.J Watson. Watson was part of the superb “Bench Mob” that was a key cog in the Bulls run to the Eastern Conference Finals in 2010-11. While he only averaged 5 points and 2 assists that season, leading that 2nd unit for the Bulls was essential to the team’s success. Also his low stats can be explained by the fact he was playing behind Derrick Rose in his MVP year and this was before his injuries so he didn’t have any minute restrictions yet.
The next year, with extended minutes, Watson averaged almost 10 points a game and 4 assists. The Bulls finished with the best record in the league for the second straight year and Watson looked like he’d be a key part of the Bulls quest for a championship. Then after Rose tore his ACL, the Bulls were bounced in the first round and the roster went through a complete makeover. Watson then left the Bulls for Brooklyn and now plays for the Pacers. Bulls fans should be thankful for his contributions to the memorable “Bench Mob.”
