#4 – Joakim Noah
Noah has had an injury-plagued season thus far, and it has limited his effectiveness.
He is currently averaging 7.6 points, 9.4 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.5 blocks in 30.5 minutes per game. His scoring and rebounding have both dropped significantly since last year, but this isn’t necessarily because Noah is playing worse.
One of the big reasons why Noah isn’t doing as well as last year is because he isn’t needed as much. Last year, the Bulls had almost no offense, and with no Pau Gasol/Derrick Rose, Noah had to carry the team on his shoulders. Jimmy Butler had also not yet developed into a star, so it was Noah’s job to lead the team on offense and defense.
What makes Noah so great is that he does more than what the statistics demonstrate. His energy and passion are arguably the best out of any player in the NBA, and he helps inspire his teammates during games. When he isn’t playing the Bulls can sometimes come out with less energy and hustle, which is why Noah is so important to Chicago. Simply put, Noah is the heart and soul of the team.
