Minutes Discrepancy: Nikola Mirotic and Doug McDermott

Not to be outdone by McDermott, rookie Nikola Mirotic’s pre-NBA accolades also warranted a tremendous amount of hype. Mirotic was drafted by the Houston Rockets in 2011 and quickly was traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves and later to the Chicago Bulls. Since then, he has been “hiding out” in Europe and producing extraordinary numbers in the process. He is a career 10.8 per game scorer but he does this on an incredible 50% percent shooting including 40% from three point land suggesting that these scoring totals could be much higher if his shot per game average was on par with other players. In previous editorials, I have likened Mirotic to your best friend’s girlfriend. He always tells you how hot she is, yet refuses to let you meet her in person. To complete the metaphor: the Bull’s organization insisted that Mirotic is the real deal, yet Bull’s fans never had a chance to see  him in action because a giant ocean separates Chicago from Europe.
