22.) Detroit Pistons (11th East)
I love Stan Van Gundy and he may be able to turn this team around, if he can figure out the minutes in the front court. If you look at Stan Van Gundy’s career, you’d realize that he’s never finished below .500 in any season since he began coaching in the NBA. This Pistons team is talented enough to become a top-4 team in the Eastern Conference; they just have to figure out the minutes for this team. This could be a potential Rondo destination, if Boston decides to move him.
Question: Will Josh Smith accept a role where he comes off of the bench?
Josh Smith is a power forward and he is currently playing small forward because of the current roster. Someone is going to have to come off the bench. You can’t play Josh Smith, Greg Monroe and Andre Drummond all at the same time. That is a disaster waiting to happen. What you have to do is move either Josh Smith or Greg Monroe and picks for Rajon Rondo, or bring one of them off of the bench. Good luck trying to swing that, but if they want to win, that is the formula.
