Rookie of the Year (ROY) – Andrew Wiggins, Minnesota Timberwolves
The popular choice, I’m sure is going to be Jabari Parker, because he was better than Wiggins in college. The college days are over now and the NBA is a completely different game. NBA is all about freak athleticism, running the open floor and finishing easy buckets. Wiggins is a freak athlete and the Timberwolves are going to turn towards him to carry them this season. Both Wiggins and Parker are going to be great NBA players. However, Wiggins is going to be a lockdown defender, and an above average offensive player.
Is he LeBron James? Nope. Kevin Durant? Nope. Paul George? Maybe. But he’s really just Andrew Wiggins and we are about to be introduced to greatness. Clearly he’s not completely polished yet, he has a streaky jump shot, and his handle could be tighter. However, for the most part he’s headed for greatness.
