Welcome to another episode of Kevin Love Rumors! I’m your host Ronald Agers, here to tell you the most reliable up to the minute rumors linked to Kevin Love. If you are cynical of what I speak, think of the reports that the Boston Celtics are still trying to swing a deal when there is no chance. There are rumors floating around that the Golden State Warriors are STILL circling the Twin Lakes area trying to swing a deal. Here’s what we have at this moment.
Pippen Ain’t Easy warning: All Kevin Love rumors are subject to change on a daily basis.
As of Friday, July 25, Fox Sports’ Sam Amico reports on the latest information that can be added to the pot of Kevin Love rumors. The players in this scenario, the Minnesota Timberwolves and Cleveland Cavaliers.
"“Multiple league sources told Fox Sports Ohio on Friday they are under the impression Love has relayed his desire for a trade to Cleveland to his agent. Love is represented by Jeff Schwartz.Sources could not say whether Love or Schwartz have made a formal trade request to the Timberwolves. Most believe if such a request is made, the Cavs will be able to obtain Love at a considerably cheaper price.”"
Well this is nothing new. Kevin Love has already reportedly let his “intrigue” be known about playing in Cleveland with LeBron James. Kevin Love is definitely looking for a situation that will have him playing basketball when it matters with an opportunity for a championship. Cleveland has a situation that takes care of that problem quite easily.
As for the formal trade request. He made that request without saying anything at all. He has already told the Timberwolves that he is not signing an extension. He has already let it be known that he will opt out of his contract. He has stated time and time again that he wants to play for a contender.
It might not be a formal request, but I think he has gotten his point across don’t you think?
Let’s get to the good stuff. Chris Herring of The Wall Street Journal adds a new team to the mix of the Kevin Love rumor mill:
"” The Knicks recently attempted to make a trade for Minnesota Timberwolves star Kevin Love, offering forward Amar’e Stoudemire and his enormous contract, second year guard Tim Hardaway Jr. and swingman Iman Shumpert, according to a person with knowledge of the situation. But the longshot offer, made in the last week, was declined and never stood much of a chance, particularly since the Timberwolves could potentially strike a richer deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers involving No.1 overall pick Andrew Wiggins.”"
Ronald Agers, the New York Knicks fan:
YES! Boy that Phil Jackson is hitting the phones hard trying to get rid of those dead money James Dolan contracts and putting the New York Knicks in a position to build a winner. Happy days will be here again soon. YES!!!!!
Ronald Agers, Editor of Pippen Ain’t Easy.
Phil Jackson must have found some of that old Woodstock weed from back in the 70’s. That or he was checking to see if James Dolan paid his long distance bill in Madison Square Garden.
There is no way that the Timberwolves would take a deal like that because of these reasons…
1) As of my knowledge, none of Glen Taylor or Flip Saunders family has been kidnapped and locked in a basement for ransom.
2) David Kahn was fired as the general manager of the Minnesota Timberwolves. Now HE would be dumb enough to make this deal.
3) Kevin Love doesn’t want to go to New York. He wants Cleveland.
4) Minnesota would take me over Amar’e Stoudemire and that toxic 22 million dollar contract. You thought Carlos Boozer’s contract was bad, it was a blessing compared to this guy. At least Boozer had somebody that wanted him in the Los Angeles Lakers. NOBODY wants Stoudemire. If he got theoretically amnestied, teams wouldn’t even bid. They probably would unplug the phone.
The only asset would be Hardaway Jr. Iman Shumpert stock has dropped so low, he probably would get picked last in a New York YMCA at this point. The only reason he was offered was because if J.R. Smith was included, Minnesota probably would have hung up the phone.
5) The Knicks have nothing to blackmail the Timberwolves with.
The final nugget to add to the Kevin Love rumors pot is that Kevin Love has dropped out of the U.S.A. tryouts. Understandable. With all the money that Love has to stand on, he can’t afford an injury right now. With Blake Griffin dropping out this week as well, it is starting to look good for Derrick Rose making the squad.
