Regular Season Games to be Cancelled Next Week

AUTHOR: | IN: NBA Lockout | COMMENTS: None Yet

NEW YORK — Sources close to the NBA have said that should a deal not get done this weekend we should all expect regular season games to begin being cancelled next week. You don’t even have to go that deep into the NBA to hear these rumblings as David Stern has said that the entire regular season may be cancelled as early as next week. “Either we’ll make very good progress — and we know what that would mean,” said Stern. “We know how good that would be, without putting dates to it — or we won’t make any progress [...]

David Stern on a Power Trip: Threatens to Cancel Season

AUTHOR: | IN: NBA Lockout | COMMENTS: None Yet

NEW YORK — After approaching the NBA Labor talks like a child deciding whether or not to jump in a pool, the owners and the union are finally meeting consecutively as the time ticks away on the NBA season starting on time. Now, mind you, just because the two sides are actually growing a pair and meeting doesn’t necessarily equal progress. Getting the lockout ended is a long and strenuous process that won’t be solved come Monday. However this isn’t going to stop the two sides from meeting, as they did yesterday and today, again on Friday and possibly again this weekend. The meetings broke [...]

Derrick Rose Weighing Overseas Options

AUTHOR: | IN: NBA Lockout | COMMENTS: None Yet

CHICAGO — Just about everybody that is anybody in the NBA is ditching the states to go overseas in order to play some form of professional basketball. Chicago Bulls MVP Derrick Rose can now be counted among those seriously considering heading to Europe. “Yes, I am taking into consideration that I might move overseas,” Rose said. “I don’t know where. There are a lot of great places overseas. I haven’t really had time to get the details of every place.” Two sources close to Rose have confirmed that the budding superstar has received at least one concrete offer from an unidentified foreign team. This comes [...]

NBA, Union Talks to Resume Today

AUTHOR: | IN: NBA Lockout | COMMENTS: None Yet

NEW YORK — After word came down that games will be cancelled due to the lockout, the predictable turn of events has brought on another predictable action: the NBA and the Player’s Union will resume labor talks today to avoid cancelling more games. The reality of the season being postponed or even cancelled hit a new level of possibility Thursday when news broke that 43 preseason games and the entire schedule of training camps were cancelled with no CBA being in place by the deadline. Maybe it’s a legitimate move to get things done, maybe it’s clockwork at this point no one [...]

NBA Cancels Preseason, Training Camps

AUTHOR: | IN: NBA Lockout | COMMENTS: None Yet

NEW YORK — In a move that stunned just about no one, the NBA announced today that they will cancel the annual training camps along with the entire preseason for all their teams. The move comes after little to no progress has been made in getting a deal done to end the current lockout which has the owners and the league pitted against the players and the union. Based on the way David Stern and some of the less favorable owners are taking this lockout, holding your breath waiting for a resolution is not strongly recommended. This is not the first [...]

Poor Ownership, Lockout making NBA Look Foolish

AUTHOR: | IN: Bulls Talk, NBA Lockout | COMMENTS: None Yet

CHICAGO — The NBA and both it’s poor and successful owners are beginning to see what this work stoppage is doing to their image: making the whole lot look like foolish children fighting over gets to brag about winning. Bill Simmons recently went on a twitter rampage scolding all involved in the Lockout debacle. As usual, Simmons is hard to disagree with both for his points and his passion. I have to agree with basically all of what Simmons said. The lockout is both the fault of  poor owners trying to be good owners and the agents of players seeing [...]

NFL to School NBA in Lockout Lecture

AUTHOR: | IN: NBA Lockout | COMMENTS: None Yet

LAS VEGAS — The NBA is in it’s 77th day being locked out and it’s about to get schooled by a league that recently resolved their work stoppage. DeMaurice Smith, the Executive Director of the NFLPA, is going to lead a dialogue with players in the NBA Player’s Association who are currently locked out by the NBA’s owners. According to a source who is close to Derek Fisher, acting president of the NBA Player’s Union, Smith will discuss with 70 players what went down in this summer NFL Lockout and why decertifying was a mistake. The call for help to Smith comes [...]

Do You Remember: Tyrus Thomas

AUTHOR: | IN: Do You Remember? | COMMENTS: None Yet

Do You Remember? is a new series from PIPPEN AIN’T EASY that highlights former Chicago Bulls who didn’t ever make headlines or legendary stints with the Bulls, but nevertheless gave their sweat and blood to be a part of Bulls Nation. Tyrus Thomas: Renegade Bull Tyrus Thomas’s time as a Bull was limited, and that has its upsides and downsides. He was here a mere four years before getting shipped out to Charlotte, which both at the time and in hind sight, honestly felt like the right decision for the Bulls. Was he a bad guy to have on your [...]
