Playoffs Ain’t Easy: Nothing in Miller’s Throat

AUTHOR: | IN: Playoffs | COMMENTS: 9 Comments

Brad Miller: 8-9 from the floor, 2-2 from 3 and hits all 5 free throws. Add to that 10 boards and 2 blocks and I’d say that Miller is has redeemed himself. And I’m not talking about the game 5 free throw miss. I’m talking about his series play, which has been spotty, and downright sloppy at times. Too many turnovers, too man ymental lapses and as expected, some porous defense. How poetic was it that he hit the free throws at the end? Is there any doubt that Rondo is a thug? Grabbing Hinrich’s arm and throwing him out [...]

Linkin Ain’t Easy

USA Today linked to my KG story and has a poll asking if Garnett should be woofin’ from the sideline. To be clear, I think it’s perfectly acceptable to be animated, passionate and make some noise from the bench, even if you are not suited up. But to get in guys’ faces, yell choke and all that? That’s what I didn’t like. But so far America seems to think that Garnett should have a seat and just watch the game. The sample size was small as I was writing this post, but it was 72% that voted “Yes. Only when [...]

KG: Got the Ring, Still No Class

AUTHOR: | IN: Playoffs | COMMENTS: 112 Comments

Shortly after Derrick Rose was mugged by Kendrick Perkins after Rose beat him to a missed shot for an offensive rebound, there was Rajon Rondo swooping into to try and decapitate Brad Miller. Rondo’s slashing hand came nowhere near the ball. It slammed into Miller’s neck and face. It was clearly a flagrant foul, but that was not the call. Miller ended up bloody, and surely dazed. He had to try and get it together quickly to attempt 2 free throws to tie the game. He missed the first, and there was Kevin Garnett clearly seen yelling at Miller that [...]

Captain Kirk: Beam Us Up To Victory

AUTHOR: | IN: Playoffs | COMMENTS: 4 Comments

There may be 3 games left in this Bulls/Celts series. But if the Bulls do not win Game 5 tonight, we can start talking about what a great experience it was for these young Bulls. Because I don’t see the Bulls beating the Celtics in a game 7 at the Garden. If the Bulls do win tonight, I think the Celts pack it in and the Bulls move on to the 2nd round. And how crazy would it be if it was the Bulls-Sixers in round 2? It’s possible. If Ben Gordon does not play tonight we could see some [...]

Playoffs Ain’t Easy: The Outer Limits

AUTHOR: | IN: Playoffs | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

After game 3 I wrote that this was the series from “Lost”. May I change that to “The Outer Limits”? This series is simply insane. Now 4 games in I have to surmise that the Celtics are just about as psycho as this Bulls team. How does a veteran team go from a dominant performance in game 3 to 19 turnovers and a terrible defensive effort in game 4? Is it apathy or ineptitude? Do they still not take the Bulls seriously? Didn’t someone tell them that without KG they can’t just flip a switch when they need to win? [...]

Playoffs Ain’t Easy: The Series From “Lost”

AUTHOR: | IN: Playoffs | COMMENTS: None Yet

Somebody moved the NBA island. The timeline for this series is completely non-linear. Where is John Locke when you need him? Can someone ring up Benjamin Linus? Last night’s Game 3 thrashing — in which the Champs made the Bulls look like chumps — should have been the result for game 2 at the Garden. Game 1′s result should have been game 3′s in Chicago. And game 2 should have been the result for game 1. That’s how it would have played out had the Bulls been a normal team. But the Bulls have not ceded to conventional wisdom nor [...]

Seattle Supersonics Select…Scott Pippen

AUTHOR: | IN: Uncategorized | COMMENTS: None Yet

Classic video featuring Pip. David Stern calls him ‘Scott’ Pippen, the crowd boos and the announcer tells the viewing audience, “That’s right folks, you’ve probably never heard of Scottie Pippen.” Oh but they would. Big time. The best part of the video is when they compare him to…Dennis Rodman. For real — they did.

Playoffs Ain’t Easy: Game 2 Another Thriller

AUTHOR: | IN: Playoffs | COMMENTS: None Yet

I don’t lie, playoffs ain’t easy. It was another thriller in Boston, but this time the Celts emerged victorious. And this is exactly why I wanted the Bulls to play the Celts in the first round. This series is simply invaluable experience for them. Ray Allen didn’t look so creaky in game 2, flying around screens to get open and get the ball. He had 30 points with 5 assists and was active, active, active. Big Baby was another hero for Boston. I was happy he was shooting those 15-18 footers. The only problem is they kept falling. I also [...]
