Chicago Bulls PF targets with Paul Millsap gone: Alize Johnson

A new option emerged on the free agent market for Karnisovas and the Bulls to consider at the four this offseason. Less than four weeks from the start of Training Camp in Chicago, the newest potential free agent target emerged thanks to the Nets this week in 25-year-old power forward Alize Johnson.

Upon the signings of Millsap and Aldridge, the Nets released Johnson. This could be a nice situation for both the Bulls and Johnson to find themselves in this month if something works out between the two parties.

Johnson is a still young and improving power forward that has a lot of room for growth in his game. But he’s got more versatility on the offensive end of the floor to become a valuable modern floor-spacing big man, unlike someone like Vanderbilt.

The 6-foot-7 and 215-pound Johnson was solid for the Nets last season in what playing time he did get. He was also good for the Nets in limited minutes in five games played in the postseason. In those 18 games he played in during the regular season with the Nets, he registered a career-best 2.6 box plus/minus and a sparkling 23.6 player efficiency rating.

The counting stats were solid for Johnson last season. He averaged an impressive 18 points per 36 minutes, 17 rebounds, three assists, one steal, and one block.

And in the postseason with the Nets this year, Johnson gave the Nets a 1.0 box plus/minus, 57.1 true shooting percentage, and an 18.2 player efficiency rating, in just roughly five minutes on the floor per game.
