Deep sleepers for the Chicago Bulls to add to the camp roster: Reggie Perry

This former elite five-star recruit and Mississippi State Bulldogs star center Reggie Perry wasn’t able to find sustained traction during his rookie campaign with the Brooklyn Nets. The 57th overall pick of the Los Angeles Clippers in the second round of the 2020 NBA Draft looked like a promising fit with the Nets.

Although, Perry still has a lot of potential that is untapped after his first season in the NBA. Perry wasn’t very efficient for the Nets in the little more than two dozen regular season games he played in last season. Perry had nearly double the turnover percentage that he did assist percentage.

Where Perry has started to excel since his time with the Nets down the stretch last season and in Summer League this offseason is in the rebounding department. Perry also averaged one steal and one block per game in Summer League.

Perry started to develop some of that defensive ability that he showed during his two seasons at Mississippi State since the second half of last season with the Nets.

During his two seasons at Mississippi State, Perry was an increasingly efficient shooter and rebounder. He was always a good defender too. With the rate he’s improved on defense and in rebounding on both ends of the floor, the 21-year-old Perry could be a nice find for the Bulls.

Combine that with the rate of improvement he showed during his two years in Starkville, and Perry could be a really good find for the Bulls ahead of the start of Training Camp on Sep. 28.
