Players who could be moved in a Lonzo Ball trade with the Chicago Bulls: Devonte’ Graham
The lone non-Bulls player on this list that could be moved with Lonzo potentially coming to Chicago is the former Kansas Jayhawks star and Hornets impending free agent point guard Devonte’ Graham. With the Hornets needing to upgrade in spots other than at point guard, it makes sense for Graham to land with the Pelicans in this sign-and-trade deal.
Just two seasons ago, Graham looked like one of the rising studs at the point guard position in the Eastern Conference. He was one of the best volume-scoring guards in the East, and was a dark horse to be an All-Star selection during the 2019-20 season. Graham was moved to the bench, though, last season with the Hornets in place of the surging guards Terry Rozier and LaMelo.
There just doesn’t look to be a significant role in this backcourt unit moving forward for Graham. Meanwhile, the Pelicans could more effectively utilize the spark plug scoring presence that Graham brings to the table.
The idea of the point guard swap here in this three-team trade, with Graham landing in NOLA, and Lonzo going to Chicago, makes a lot of sense for all parties involved. The Hornets are really the only of these three teams that is not looking to add guard help to the top unit this offseason.
Graham is a key to making this deal happen between the Bulls, Hornets, and Pelicans. This shouldn’t be someone that is moved to the Bulls, but he is a key cog in Lonzo landing in Chicago.
Get the Hornets and Pelicans to commit to the movement of Graham to NOLA, and it feels like this three-team sign-and-trade deal namely for the Bulls to get Lonzo is already halfway done.
