Stars that benefit most from playing with Chicago Bulls star Zach LaVine: Karl-Anthony Towns
The problem of the fit between the Bulls and the Minnesota Timberwolves star big man Karl-Anthony Towns likely would not be with his former teammate LaVine. It would be difficult for head coach Billy Donovan to configure a system on each end of the floor that works between KAT and Vooch. Neither is a particularly strong presence down low on the defensive end.
Of course, any thought of being able to form a big three that consists of KAT, LaVine, and Vooch, could be too appealing to pass up on for Karinsovas and the Bulls. KAT is familiar playing with LaVine from their days as teammates with the Timberwolves. LaVine started out his career with the Timberwolves prior to that infamous trade during the 2017 offseason that sent star shooting guard/small forward Jimmy Butler to Minnesota.
KAT is one of the most versatile and offensively gifted big men in the NBA. He is a two-time All-Star that is one of the most capable big men to shoulder the load on offense of any in the Eastern Conference. If not for some nagging injury issues for the past two seasons, KAT could now be a three or four-time All-Star selection.
Some of the more proficient two and three-man combinations, in terms of scoring and rebounding, that KAT had in the first two seasons of his career came with the likes of LaVine and current Golden State Warriors small forward Andrew Wiggins. LaVine and KAT have already proved they’re a very potent offensive duo from their time together with the Timberwolves.
Both have only increased their ability since they were teammates through the end of the 2016-17 season. This would be a very attractive duo to place with Vooch for Karnisovas and the Bulls this summer. It just doesn’t seem very possible to get KAT from the Timberwolves at the moment.
This could be a future considerations for the Bulls’ front office if the Timberwolves eventually do wind up shopping KAT.
