Veterans the Chicago Bulls could get in a Thaddeus Young trade: Larry Nance Jr.
What could certainly be one of the most intriguing trade options for the Bulls this summer, if the Cleveland Cavaliers were open to it, would be the divisional foe and standout forward Larry Nance Jr. Trading for a guy like Nance Jr. could give Donovan and the Bulls an immediate solve for who to plug-and-play with the starting unit next season.
The 6-foot-7 and 245-pound power forward could start at the four for the Bulls if the front office and coaching staff had confidence in his fit playing next to the likes of Williams and Vooch. But Nance surely showed a lot of the value that he could bring to the table in the past few seasons with the Bulls’ divisional foe Cavs.
During the 2020-21 regular season, Nance averaged 9.3 points per game, 6.7 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 1.7 steals, and 0.5 blocks. And he shot 47.1 percent from the field, 36.0 percent from beyond the arc, and 61.2 percent from the free-throw line. He’s about as well-rounded as it could get for a support piece to slot in the starting unit for the Bulls heading into next season.
If the Cavs were willing to partake in a one-for-one player trade with the Bulls to get Young in exchange for Nance, that should be something that Karnisovas would be ready to pull the trigger on. The Bulls could both get younger and more versatile in their frontcourt rotation by trading for a player they’d be familiar with like Nance.
