NBA Mock Draft 1.0
The Magic land in the unfortunate spot of picking fifth overall in a draft that is very strong in the top four. Still, there is value to be had and there will be players that are looked back at as major steals from this class selected after the top four.
The Magic choose to add Jonathan Kuminga, who gets drafted directly after his G League Ignite teammate Jalen Green. The Magic add a versatile wing that is among the best athletes in the entire draft and has a ton of upside.
He fits the bill for what NBA teams want from their wings in today’s game. With some fine-tuning to his offensive repertoire, Kuminga could be the best two-way player to come out of this draft.
The Thunder go with upside and versatility at number six by selection Scottie Barnes out of Florida State. The 6’9” forward can handle and distribute the ball like a guard and has matchup nightmare written all over him, as long as his jump shot shows improvement.
Barnes is also an asset on the defensive end, displaying the ability to guard any position on the court. The Thunder add him ahead of what is going to be a long and interesting rebuilding process. It’s a smart move, as Barnes is the type of player that will fit in anywhere and be useful.
