Former All-Stars the Chicago Bulls could sign: Victor Oladipo
It is clear at this point that the Bulls’ primary need positionally this offseason is at point guard. The talk of the town for Bulls fans is what Karnisovas and Eversley will do to fill the need at the point guard position. The Bulls could land a big name on the free agent market that a lot of people are talking about such as Lonzo Ball, or trade for a bigger star.
But there’s also the chance that the Bulls could take to an alternative solution and run a more switchable backcourt if they signed someone like the former Indiana Pacers, Houston Rockets, Oklahoma City Thunder, etc. guard Victor Oladipo. The idea of a switchable backcourt between LaVine and Dipo could be intriguing for the Bulls.
That is also a volatile proposition, that might not give too much benefit given Dipo’s injury history and recent production.
Dipo is a two-time All-Star selection that was at the height of his power three or four years back with the divisional foe Pacers.
The last team that Dipo has played a game for this season is the Miami Heat. It seemed like the Heat and head coach Erik Spoelstra was a good fit for Dipo to try and revitalize his career. He never really found his footing in the past season and a half after returning from a devastating quad injury from more than two years ago.
Unless Karnisovas and the Bulls could get Dipo for a very cheap price this summer, it likely wouldn’t be a smart idea to sign him. But that option could exist if Dipo’s recovery is going well later this summer and the Bulls could get him at a price tag in the seven figures. A medium-risk, high-reward signing with Dipo could make sense in the end.
It shouldn’t be recommended otherwise.
