PG targets for Chicago Bulls that don’t fit with Zach LaVine: Kendrick Nunn
Amid the less discussed potent point guard impending free agents this summer, you could find the Miami Heat former undrafted free agent signing Kendrick Nunn. A former NBA All-Rookie Team selection, Nunn is actually one of the more interesting impending free agents at point guard this summer.
It’s just that his price is likely going to get driven up pretty high in restricted free agency. It might go quite a bit higher than a team like the Bulls would be willing to pay. Nunn’s next contract could pay him in the range of $15-$20 million annually. He could also want to get a long-term deal with his next contract this summer.
And as is true with Schroder, considering the Bulls need to find a true quality starting point guard this summer, they could be taking a risk in signing someone long-term for an expensive price tag like Nunn. If they signed someone like Lonzo or the Toronto Raptors veteran point guard Kyle Lowry, the Bulls would be assuring themselves more of hitting on their next floor general.
Nunn would be a good fit with the Bulls from the standpoint of perimeter defensive ability and proficiency in running in transition. He’s a good one-on-one defender, and he shot a career-best 48.5 percent from the field, 38.1 percent from beyond the arc, and 93.3 percent from the free-throw line.
The problem that the Bulls have with Coby in terms of a lack of the true ability to facilitate the offense is something that could emerge problematic with Nunn too. His career-best number in assists per game sits at just 3.3.
In terms of the fit with LaVine, Nunn just wouldn’t be the true facilitator of the offense that the Bulls star shooting guard needs heading into next season. That might not be able to get this team to the next level as a whole either.
