Chicago Bulls trades with the Cavs for Collin Sexton
If the Bulls were to make a deal with the Cavs to land Sexton this summer, then it might take Karnisovas and Eversley giving up some more future draft capital to get the deal done. But that would be tough for the Bulls since they already gave up so much at the deadline to get Vooch to the Windy City. The Bulls had to trade away two first-round draft picks to the Orlando Magic to get Vooch and veteran forward Al-Farouq Aminu.
Yet, the Bulls still have a lot of similar pieces in place in this last trade deal up on the list. They still get the duo of Osman and Sexton from the Cavs. This time, what the Bulls send back to Cleveland includes Young and a future lottery-protected first-round draft pick.
In all likelihood, if the Bulls were to get Sexton from the Cavs it would mean making the playoffs with the current group they have in place. Placing Sexton in the Bulls starting five next to the likes of Vooch, star shooting guard Zach LaVine, rookie forward Patrick Williams, etc., could vault them into playoff contender status in the Eastern Conference right away.
That could be appealing to a Cavs team that is largely still rebuilding. The Cavs would more likely than not get the Bulls’ first-round pick if this were to amount to 2022 or 2024, or something of the sort. But if this trade by Karnisovas and the Bulls weren’t able to work out in the end, then Chicago could get their first-round pick back from the Cavs.
Young would be a low-risk option for the Cavs to get a veteran in the mix. He only has one year remaining on his current contract, which could make him rather tradeable moving forward. It is the future first-round draft pick that appeals to the Cavs in this trade, though, when it’s all said and done.
