The veterans are clearly having a positive impact on the way Williams plays when they’re on the floor with him this season. Veteran former Brooklyn Nets shooting guard and the 34-year-old Garrett Temple is having a very positive impact on the rookie former Florida State Seminoles 19-year-old Williams this season.

Temple has had his fair share of struggles of late since moving into the starting five for the Bulls in LaVine’s absence. But if he’s helping to develop the game of Williams on both ends of the floor this season, then his presence is still very valuable for this Bulls team.

Williams is shooting better than 45 percent from the field and better than 37 percent from beyond the arc when on the floor with Temple this season. And Williams shoots better than 47 percent from the field on passes from Temple.

The two-man combination of Temple and Williams was also very effective in terms of net rating for the Bulls so far this season. The Bulls have a positive net rating in terms of points per 100 possessions with this two-man combination, along with fewer turnovers, more rebounds, more assists, and better shooting percentages almost across the board.

Temple isn’t the best and/or most effective shooter and primary ball-handler for the Bulls. But he is an important veteran voice in the locker room, that along with Young can help to develop some of the younger and more talented players on this team. The Bulls also very much need his on-ball defending ability on the perimeter.
