Draft prospects worth tanking for the Chicago Bulls: Jonathan Kuminga

In terms of forwards with two-way potential in this draft class, there might not be a single one with a higher ceiling once he reaches the NBA than the former elite five-star recruit and G-League product Jonathan Kuminga. The 6-foot-8 and 220 pound Kuminga consistently improved his game with the G-League Ignite in the bubble season during the 2020-21 campaign.

Although the Bulls do already have rookie former Florida State Seminoles forward Patrick Williams in the mix, adding a player like Kuminga could be huge for this starting five. The Bulls would be able to run one of the more versatile starting five units in the East starting next season if they could have Williams and Kuminga switching between the three and the four.

Kuminga has already shown that he will be an excellent defender at the next level. He was one of the better defenders in the entirety of the G-League this past season. And his game improved on offense down the stretch, but he still needs some work in that regard.

In 13 games played with the Ignite last season, Kuminga averaged 15.8 points per game, 7.2 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.0 steals, and 0.8 blocks. And he shot 38.7 percent from the field, 24.6 percent from beyond the arc, and 62.5 percent from the free-throw line.

Kuminga would be more of a longer-term project for the Bulls if they are to luck out in the 2021 draft and get a spot at or near the top of the lottery. But he could be a great fit nonetheless that the front office would be very lucky to get their hands on.
